CHICAGO, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Craig Krenzel passed for 168 yards and a touchdown in his first career NFL start Sunday night as the Chicago Bears beat the San Francisco 49ers, 23-13.

Nathan Vasher scored on a 71-yard pass interception return and, Paul Edinger kicked three field goals for the Bears.

Krenzel, who took over for Jonathan Quinn in the second half of last week's loss to Tampa Bay, completed 13 of his 25 passes Sunday night. He threw a 49-yard TD strike to Bernard Berrian on his first pass of the game. That gave the Bears (2-5) an early 7-0 lead.

Bears running back Thomas Jones left the game in the first quarter with a foot injury. Anthony Thomas replaced him and rushed for 98 yards.

The Bears ended a four-game losing streak.

Dwaine Carpenter scored on an 80-yard fumble return and Todd Peterson kicked two field goals for the 49ers (1-6).
