CARSON, Calif., Oct. 31 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Galaxy scored a pair of goals in the first half to defeat the Colorado Rapids 2-0 Saturday night in Carson, Calif.
The Galaxy won their Western Conference Semifinal series 2-1.
The Los Angeles team dominated the run of play from the start and created most of the scoring opportunities. Carlos Ruiz and Tyrone Marshall each scored a goal to move the Galaxy into the Western Conference Final next Friday against the Kansas City Wizards at Arrowhead Stadium.
Early in the game, Rapids goalkeeper Joe Cannon was beaten by a shot from Marcelo Saragosa, but the ball crashed off the face of the crossbar.
Kyle Beckerman had a good scoring opportunity for the Rapids as he tried to bend the ball towards the back post, but his effort went right to Kevin Hartman, who made the easy save.
