COL FB: West Virginia 35, Rutgers 30

PISCATAWAY, N.J., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Thirteenth-ranked West Virginia avoided an upset Saturday by overcoming Rutgers, 35-30.

Quarterback Rasheed Marshall passed for 165 yards with two touchdowns and added 79 yards rushing and one touchdown for the Mountaineers, who forced four turnovers in the first half.

West Virginia rose to 7-1, 3-0 Big East and now has won three in a row. The Mountaineers have beaten the Scarlet Knights 10 straight times.

Ryan Hart was 35-for-46 with 324 yards passing with three touchdowns for Rutgers, which dropped to 4-4, 1-3 Big East with its second straight loss.
