JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- David Greene threw three touchdown passes, two to tight end Leonard Pope, to lead No. 7 Georgia to a 31-24 victory Saturday over Florida.

The Bulldogs (7-1, 5-1 SEC) beat the Gators for the first time since 1997.

Georguia freshman Danny Ware rushed for 103 yards.

Chris Leak threw two touchdown passes and Ciatrick Fason rushed for 139 yards for the Gators (4-4, 2-4), who had won 13 of their previous 14 meetings with the Bulldogs.

Florida was playing its first game since it was announced last Monday that Coach Ron Zook was fired as of the end of the season.

Greene completed 15-of-23 passes for 255 yards. His first- win over Florida in four tries was his 39th career victory, tying the NCAA record held by Peyton Manning, who never beat the Gators while he was quarterback at Tennessee.
