Garcia keeps lead in Spain

CADIZ, Spain, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Sergio Garcia held a one-shot lead Friday at the halfway point of the Volvo Masters in Spain.

The 24-year-old Garcia, who had been tied for the lead after the first round, shot a 2-under-par 69 for a 6-under 136.

Alastair Forsyth was second and Ian Poulter another shot back in third.

Contenders in the final European Tour event of the season played through strong winds and rain at the Valderrama Golf Club.

Angel Cabrera and Christian Cevaer were tied for fourth place at 139. Cabrera's 66 was the best round of the day.

Next came Peter Hanson, four off the lead at 140, followed by Brian Davis, Peter O'Malley and Jonathan Lomas at 141.

Darren Clarke scored an 11 on the par-5 17th hole after hitting into a bunker and then a pond near the green. Despite the bad hole, Clarke shot a 1-over-par 72 and was 3-over for the tournament.
