Agassi reaches Stockholm semis

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Andre Agassi won his quarterfinal match at the Stockholm Open Friday, but U.S. Open semifinalist Joachim Johansson was forced to retire.

Agassi, the No. 1 seed, earned a semifinal berth with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 win over Fernando Verdasco. Tommy Haas set up a meeting with Agassi by outlasting Olivier Rochus, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).

Johansson, seeded second, withdrew due to an undisclosed illness. Michael Ryderstedt lost the first set to Johansson and then led in the second before Johansson retired.
