DENVER, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Quentin Griffin is the latest Denver Broncos running back to be felled by a season-ending knee injury.
The second-year player suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Monday night's 23-10 loss at Cincinnati, the Denver Post reported. An MRI Tuesday confirmed the damage.
Griffin will undergo surgery next week, the newspaper said.
"This will end up being just a bump in the road," his agent, Peter Schaffer, told the newspaper. "We have full confidence he'll return completely ready to contribute next season."
Griffin had 311 yards on 85 carries and two touchdowns. He added 10 receptions for 68 yards and one score and will join one-time starter Mike Anderson on injured reserve because of a similar injury.
Griffin, a fourth-round pick from Oklahoma, suffered a broken leg and missed six games as a rookie last season.
