Johnson wins NASCAR race at Martinsville

MARTINSVILLE, Va., Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Jimmie Johnson shrugged off 17 caution flags during a record 125 laps Sunday to win the NASCAR Subway 500 Nextel Cup race at the Martinsville Speedway.

Johnson's Chevrolet finished 1.225 seconds ahead of runnerup Jamie McMurray.

The victory was Johnson's sixth of the season and 12th of his Cup career.

Ryan Newman finished in third place, Sterling Marlin fourth, and Kurt Busch fifth.
