Umpires chosen for World Series

NEW YORK, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Umpire Ed Montague will be behind the plate when the World Series starts Saturday at Fenway Park in Boston.

Montague is chief of the crew to work the series between Boston and St. Louis.

The names of the crew were announced Friday by Major League Baseball.

Montague, a major league umpire for 29 years, will be working his fifth World Series.

Others in the crew are Dale Scott, Gerry Davis, Charlie Reliford, Brian Gorman and Chuck Meriwether.

Scott and Davis are each working their third World Series. It will be the second for Reliford and the first for Gorman and Meriwether.

The first-game lineup has Scott at first base, Gorman at second, Meriwether at third, Davis in left field and Reliford in right.
