PITTSBURGH, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Pittsburgh Steelers safety Mike Logan is done for the 2004 season because of a hamstring injury.
Coach Bill Cowher said Wednesday the injury led to Logan's being placed on injured reserve, and free agent Tyrone Carter was signed in his place.
"Mike had a significant hamstring," Cowher said on the team's Web site. "The feeling is by the time he comes back there is no certainty he will be full speed. We had the opportunity to sign Tyrone Carter who has some experience at safety. We wanted to sign him quickly because with the bye week we can get him updated on our defenses."
Logan was hurt in the Steelers' 34-23 win over Cleveland Oct. 10.
This season, Logan, in his eighth year out of West Virginia, had five solo tackles and no interceptions in three games. He doubled as a punt returner.
