Scott Hend, Mark Hensby and John Huston were tied for second at 64 while Stephen Ames, Briny Baird and Jose Maria Olazabal were at 65.

Vijay Singh, seeking his ninth win of the year and who hopes to become the first player to earn $10 million in a single season, shot a 66.

"I played well and I putted really well, so I'm pretty happy," Lewis said. "This year has been kind of an off year, and I've just been working on executing shots and trying to just get more proficient. Hopefully it's paying off."
