ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 21 (UPI) -- The college football game formerly known as the Tangerine Bowl is now the Champs Sports Bowl.
Champs is the new corporate sponsor of the event, scheduled Dec. 21 at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium in Orlando.
This will be the fourth year the game, which matches teams from the Atlantic Coast and Big 12 conferences, is played in Orlando. It previously was played at Pro Player Stadium in Miami for 11 years under various titles, including the Florida Citrus Bowl.
Champs Sports, a part of Foot Locker Inc., is based in Bradenton, Fla., and sells athletic apparel for men and women. The company signed a multiyear agreement to sponsor the game.
A statement from Champs said its stores in the Orlando market and those of the competing teams will carry Champs Sports Bowl apparel and accessories.
North Carolina State routed Kansas 56-26 in last year's game, which was called the Mazda Tangerine Bowl.
