NFL names its Players of the Week

NEW YORK, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- NFL Player of the Week winners announced Wednesday include rookie quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and linebacker James Farrior of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Roethlisberger, named top AFC offensive player, was 21-of-25 passing for 193 yards and two touchdowns without an interception in a 24-20 win at Dallas.

Farrior was named best defensive player for a performance that included nine tackles, two sacks and three forced fumbles. Buffalo punter Brian Moorman was honored for special teams play.

Their NFC counterparts were Minnesota Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper, who set an NFL record by throwing for five touchdowns for the third time this season at New Orleans; cornerback Lito Sheppard of Philadelphia, who had an interception return for a touchdown against Carolina, and St. Louis Rams punter Sean Landeta for special teams.
