NASHVILLE, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- A four-yard touchdown run by Jonathan Wells with 4:42 left Sunday provided Houston a cushion and the Texans surprised Tennessee, 20-10.
It was the first win ever for the Texans against the team that moved from Houston to Tennessee eight seasons ago.
Wells produced the only score of the second half and boosted the Texans (3-3) to their third win in four outings. He gained 73 yards on 22 carries.
Houston's David Carr completed 16 of 26 throws for 266 yards and a touchdown pass of 20 yards to Jabar Gaffney in the second quarter.
Steve McNair was good on 19 of 41 throws for 210 yards and he threw four interceptions.
Tennessee rushing star Chris Brown left the game in the third quarter with a shoulder injury and did not return after gaining 52 yards on 13 carries.
Trailing by 10 late in the game, Tennessee had a fourth down at the Houston four and chose to go for the touchdown. But a McNair pass was intercepted in the end zone by Marcus Coleman.
