Castroneves wins IRL pole

FORT WORTH, Texas, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Helio Castroneves won his fifth pole of the season Friday, capturing the top starting position for the Chevy 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Castroneves traveled the 1.5-mile circuit in 24.2504 seconds -- a speed of 215.996 mph. Sunday's race will be the final IRL event of the season.

Tomas Scheckter turned in the second best time of 24.2690, followed by Sam Hornish, Jr. and Vitor Meira.

Tony Kanaan, who has already wrapped up the season championship, will start 10th.
