SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- San Francisco 49ers linebacker Julian Peterson will be out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his torn left Achilles' tendon Tuesday.

"Julian and Jasen (Isom) each had surgery on their Achilles this morning and both went well," said Dr. Michael Dillingham. "Each of them will be in a cast for 6-8 weeks."

Peterson suffered the injury during the first quarter of Sunday's 31-28 overtime victory over Arizona. A Pro Bowl selection in each of the last two seasons, Peterson had 27 tackles and three sacks this fall.
