Novak beats Dent for Japan Open title

TOKYO, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Czech Jiri Novak beat American Taylor Dent Sunday in the championship match of the Japan Open.

The fifth-seeded Novak won 5-7, 6-1, 6-3. Dent was the seventh seed.

Novak had eliminated Lleyton Hewitt, the top seed, in the semifinals.
