NFL: San Francisco 31, Arizona 28 (OT)

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Todd Peterson kicked a 32-yard field goal early in overtime Sunday to give the San Francisco 49ers a 31-28 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Tim Rattay threw two fourth quarter touchdown passes to put the game into overtime.

Rattay completed 38-of-57 passes for 417 yards for the 49ers (1-4), who rallied from a 16-point deficit. Eric Johnson caught 13 passes for 162 yards and Arnaz Battle returned a punt for a touchdown.

Josh McCown threw for 231 yards and three touchdowns on 19-of-34 passing for Arizona (1-4), which suffered its 16th consecutive loss on the road.

Emmitt Smith, the NFL's all-time leading rusher, had 63 yards and a TD for Arizona, which gave away a 28-12 lead down the stretch.
