
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Alvin Pearman ran for 104 yards and two touchdowns Thursday night to lead ninth-ranked and unbeaten Virginia to a 30-10 victory over Clemson.
Marques Hagans completed 14 of 26 passes for 225 yards and a touchdown to boost the Cavaliers to 5-0 for the season and to 2-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Virginia scored the game's last 27 points, giving the Cavaliers their eighth straight conference win.
Clemson took an early lead with Charlie Whitehurst hitting 16 of 28 for 166 yards and a score. But the Tigers (1-4, 1-3) suffered their fourth straight loss.
Tight end Heath Miller put Virginia in front for good at 13-10 with a three-yard touchdown catch with 5:39 left in the opening half.
Pearman's scored on a two-yard run on the first play of the fourth period and added another two-yard score with 6:52 remaining.
