MLB: Chicago White Sox 4, Kansas City 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Jon Garland worked six innings Friday night and Paul Konerko drove in two runs to give the Chicago White Sox a 4-2 win over Kansas City.

Joe Crede had an RBI double as the White Sox broke a 2-2 tie with a pair of runs in the seventh. They have won three in a row and five of seven.

Garland (12-11) limited the Royals to two runs and five hits. Shingo Takatsu picked up his 19th save in 20 changes.

By capturing their 82nd game, the White Sox clinched their fourth winning season in five years. Kansas City, meanwhile, saw its club record for most losses in a season climb to 103.
