MLB: Houston 2, St. Louis 1

HOUSTON, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- The Houston Astros moved to within a half-game of Chicago's National League wild card lead Tuesday with a 2-1 win over St. Louis.

The Astros have won 11 of 15.

Houston broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning on a triple by Carlos Beltran and a sacrifice fly by Jeff Bagwell.

Bagwell drove in both of the Astros runs.

Larry Walker had given the Cardinals a 1-0 lead with a second-inning homer.

Brandan Backe (4-3) was the winning pitcher with help from three relievers.
