STARKVILLE, Miss., Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Mississippi State will be without sophomore quarterback Omarr Conner for at least three weeks.

Conner suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee Saturday in the third quarter of the Bulldogs' 51-0 loss to LSU.

Coach Sylvester Croom said Monday it was unlikely that the young quarterback would be back before the Florida game Oct. 23 in Starkville.

Junior Kyle York of Spring, Texas, who is still trying to bounce back from off-season shoulder surgery, will start this week at Vanderbilt.

"I played all year last year with an arm that's worse than it is now," York told the Jackson (Miss.) Clarion-Ledger.

"At times, his arm is sore, and he was limited throughout the pre-season as far as how many throws he could make," Croom said. "At times, there is no soreness."

His backup will be freshman Mike Henig.

MSU is 1-3 overall (0-2 SEC West).
