Browns' Suggs cleared to play

CLEVELAND, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Cleveland Browns running back Lee Suggs may be ready to play his first game of the season Sunday.

Suggs, who had been expected to start at running back this season, missed the first three games because of a neck injury.

Coach Butch Davis said Tuesday the second-year player has been cleared for full practice as the Browns prepare for the Washington Redskins.

"We're going to turn him loose," Davis said.

William Green has done most of the Browns' rushing in Suggs' absence, carrying 56 times for 208 yards.

The Browns are 1-2 and have struggled on offense.

As a rookie last season, Suggs played in seven games, gaining 289 yards on 56 carries.
