OAKLAND, Calif., Sept. 27 (UPI) -- The Oakland Raiders reported Monday that quarterback Rich Gannon will be sidelined at least six weeks with a neck injury.

Gannon broke vertebrae in his neck when he collided helmet-to-helmet with Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Derrick Brooks Sunday, tests showed.

"He will be out an extended period," Oakland Coach Norv Turner said. "It's disappointing."

The 38-year-old Gannon has completed 41 of 68 passes for 524 yards and three touchdowns this season. He has been intercepted twice.

Kerry Collins replaced him in the 30-20 win over Tampa Bay.
