BALTIMORE, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Miguel Tejada's three-run homer in the ninth inning Friday night rallied Baltimore to a 7-5 victory over Detroit.

Tejada went four for five with four RBI, allowing Baltimore to surpass last year's win total with its 72nd triumph of the season. Javy Lopez drove in three runs for the Orioles.

Detroit has lost three straight and 12 of 17.

With Esteban Yan on the mound for Detroit, David Newhan singled to open the ninth. Melvin Mora then drew a walk and Tejada hit a 1-0 pitch out of the park.

John Parrish (6-3) worked the top of the ninth for the win.
