Boston scored 19 runs in its last two games against Tampa Bay in a tune-up for this weekend's key three-game series with the New York Yankees.
That series will begin Friday night with the Yankees owning a 3 1/2-game lead in the division.
Boston scored three runs in the first and Schilling coasted most of the way.
