PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla., Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Vijay Singh, who recently replaced Tiger Woods as the world's No. 1 golfer, is closing in on Woods' single-year money record.
Singh collected $810,000 for winning the Canadian Open Sunday, giving him $8,699,566 this year.

Woods' single-year record, set in 2000, is $9,188,321.
Singh's victory in Canada was his seventh of the year and 22nd of his career.
Phil Mickelson is second on the 2004 money list, about $3 million behind Singh. Woods is third, a little over $4 million behind.
Singh has played in 25 tournaments this year, six more than Mickelson and eight more than Woods.
