CHICAGO, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Derrek Lee hit a two-out, bases-clearing double Saturday in a four-run eighth inning as the Chicago Cubs defeated the Florida Marlins, 5-2.
Aramis Ramirez and Sammy Sosa also drove in runs for the Cubs who entered Saturday's action tied for the wild card lead with Houston and San Francisco.
Ryan Dempster (1-1) got the win in relief after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth. LaTroy Hawkins struck out all three batters he faced in the ninth for his 21st save.
Carlos Zambrano started for Chicago and allowed two runs -- one earned -- on six hits in seven innings.
Florida reliever Guillermo Mota (9-6) suffered the loss after allowing three runs on three hits in just two-thirds of an inning.
Florida starter Dontrelle Willis was charged with one run on six hits in 6 2/3 innings.
