Castroneves has pole at Chicagoland

JOLIET, Ill., Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Two-time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves took the pole Saturday for Sunday's Delphi Indy 300 race at the Chicagoland Speedway.

Castroneves circled the 1.5-mile oval in 25.4797 seconds (214.759 m.p.h.) for his third pole victory of the season and seventh of his IndyCar career.

Series points leader Tony Kanaan, who posted a time of 25.5665 seconds, will also be on the front row with Castroneves. Buddy Rice (25.5889) and Dario Franchitti (25.6127) will start in row two.
