Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

OAKVILLE, Ontario, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Joey Sindelar shot a 5-under 66 Thursday and had the lead Thursday when the first round of the Canadian Open was suspended by darkness.
Only half the field could complete the first round after play was delayed for five hours by overnight rains that left the Glen Abbey course unplayable.
Pat Perez was alone in second place after firing a 68.
Sindelar is seeking his second victory of the year after going 14 years without one.
Jesper Parnevik, Danny Briggs, David Sutherland, Cliff Kresge and Brett Quigley shared third place at 2-under 69.
After ending Tiger Woods' five-year hold on the world No. 1 ranking last week, Vijay Singh was 3-over through five holes when play was stopped.
