MLB: N.Y. Mets 4, Florida 0

MIAMI, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- The New York Mets snapped an 11-game losing streak Thursday with a 4-0 win over the Florida Marlins, who had won nine straight.

Winning pitcher Kris Benson (11-11) broke a personal two-game slide. He scattered only five hits in six shutout innings, walked one and struck out four.

The Mets got an RBI each from Eric Valent, who hit his 11th home run, Jason Phillips, Richard Hidalgo and Wilson Delgado in snapping the Marlins' streak.

Florida had beaten the Mets 10 straight times.
