MLB: San Diego 10, St. Louis 5

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- David Wells allowed three hits over seven innings Wednesday to help give San Diego a 10-5 victory over St. Louis.

Phil Nevin powered the San Diego offense with a three-for-five day that included a homer.

Wells (10-7) gave up two runs and did not walk a batter. Nevin drove in three runs and Ryan Klesko went two for three with a two-run homer.

St. Louis starter Matt Morris (15-9) retired only six batters, giving up seven runs on five hits.

St. Louis lost for only the second time in 12 games.
