DENVER, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- The Colorado Rapids defeated the Dallas Burn 2-1 at Inveco Field at Mile High Saturday night in Denver.
The winning goal came as Nat Borchers headed Antonio de la Torre's corner kick past Dallas goalkeeper Jeff Cassar.
The Rapids controlled the flow of the game during the first half with Pablo Mastroeni and Kyle Beckerman clogging the middle, and Ritchie Kotschau and Borchers shutting down any attacks.
The Rapids later began to control the game after John Spencer made for the net, but Carrey Talley recovered in time to disrupt Spencer's shot so that it went harmlessly over the end line.
Matt Behnke's first-time volley rocketed into the Colorado net, while the Rapids tied the game when Jean-Phillipe Peguero's cross went to Spencer at the left side of the goal box, who volleyed the ball past Casser to tie the game.
