MLB: San Diego 7, Colorado 6

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Mark Loretta nailed two hits and got two to lift San Diego to a 7-6 Friday win over visiting Colorado.

Ryan Klesko added two hits and RBI and Phil Nevin smacked a three-run homer in the seventh to seal the win for the Padres as the franchise went 6-2 against the Rockies.

Scott Linebrink (1-0) struck out two in one inning of relief to earn the victory, and Trevor Hoffman pitched the ninth for his 34th save.

David Wells, the San Diego starter, permitted five runs -- four earned -- on nine hits in five innings.
