HOUSTON, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Michael Pittman rushed for 71 yards on 12 carries Thursday night as Tampa Bay concluded its exhibition campaign with a 17-9 win over Houston.

Tampa Bay starting quarterback Brad Johnson was just four of eight for 50 yards in a quarter of action. The quarterbacks battling for the backup role, Brian Griese and Chris Simms, each threw for a score.

Texans starter David Carr played just a quarter and connected on four of six attempts for 35 yards and an interception.

Tampa Bay kicker Martin Gramatica continued to struggle, missing a 47-yard field goal attempt in the first quarter.
