
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Marquis Grissom smacked a three-run homer for the San Francisco Giants, who defeated the Colorado Rockies 9-5 at SBC Park.
Adding to the Giants' efforts was Ray Durham, who finished with three hits, including a three-run double in the fourth inning that snapped a 2-2 tie. Yorvit Torrealba added a solo homer.
Luis Gonzalez and Vinny Castilla both homered for the Rockies, who have lost 12 of their last 13.
The Giants' Brett Tomko permitted two runs on five hits in five innings to win his third straight decision before leaving with a sprained right ankle. Dustin Hermanson worked the ninth for his eighth save.
Pitcher Jeff Francis made his second career start for the Rockies, who fell to 24-41 on the road this season.
