KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Zack Greinke threw seven shutout innings Wednesday night, carrying Kansas City to a 1-0 victory over Detroit.
Abraham Nunez drove home the game's lone run.

Greinke (7-9) gave up three hits, walked none and struck out five. He retired the first 15 batters he faced.
After falling a franchise-record 40 games under .500, Kansas City has won two straight.
Detroit's Mike Maroth (10-10) allowed the one run in eight innings. He gave up six hits.
Kansas City scored in the fourth on singles by Joe Randa, Matt Stairs and Maroth.
