
CHICAGO, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Rich Harden pitched seven innings Tuesday to remain unbeaten in his last 13 starts and lead the Oakland Athletics to a 7-2 win over the Chicago White Sox.
Harden (9-5) allowed one run on four hits for the Athletics, who have won eight straight and 13 of their last 14 games. Adam Melhuse homered and Mark Kotsay finished with three hits.
Carlos Lee homered and drove in both runs for the White Sox, who have lost two of their last three.
Melhuse contributed three hits for Oakland, which took a 6-0 lead off Felix Diaz.
Kotsay led off the game with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Eric Chavez. In the second, Kotsay had a two-run double to cap a three-run rally.
Diaz (1-4) started for Chicago in place of injured Freddy Garcia and suffered the loss after giving up six runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings.
