Rams' offensive tackle out for season

MACOMB, Ill., Aug. 28 (UPI) -- St. Louis Rams offensive tackle Kyle Turley, on injured reserve, will miss the entire 2004 season.

Turley, 28, is hampered with a herniated disc suffered during training camp practice in late July.

Turley already underwent surgery on his back last year and hasn't joined his teammates since the recent problem. He has dropped about 30 pounds with the lack of weight lifting and training.

The Rams acquired Turley from New Orleans prior to the 2003 season in exchange for a second-round pick in this year's NFL Draft. The San Diego State product started all 16 games during his first year with St. Louis.
