MLB: Florida 3, Colorado 0

MIAMI, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Ismael Valdez pitched 6 2/3 scoreless innings to lead Florida to a 3-0 win over Colorado Friday night.

Valdez (11-7) allowed only four hits while striking out four before leaving the game in the seventh with a left Achilles' strain.

Luis Castillo and Juan Encarnacion drove in runs for the Marlins, who snapped a two-game losing streak. The third run came on a balk.

Joe Kennedy (6-6) was the hard-luck loser after yielding just one run on seven hits over seven innings.

Todd Helton had two hits for the Rockies, who have dropped five straight games.
