
ATHENS, Greece, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Thursday's highlights at the Olympics:
-- In a dominating day for the Americans, there was a women's soccer gold, a semifinal berth in men's basketball, a medal sweep in the men's 200 and a 1-2 finish in the men's long jump.
-- Abby Wambach scored in overtime to give the United States a 2-1 win over Brazil in the soccer gold medal match.
-- With Stephon Marbury scoring an American Olympic record 31 points, the U.S. basketball team made the semifinals with a 102-94 decision over previously unbeaten Spain.
-- Shawn Crawford, Bernard Williams and Justin Gatlin produced a U.S. sweep in the 200. Gatlin was coming off victory in the 100.
-- Dwight Phillips had a big first leap and no one could match it in the long jump. Fellow-American John Moffit finished second.
-- Taiwan had never won Olympic gold before Thursday and in a brief span won two in taekwondo. Egypt was without a gold since 1948, but earned one in Greco-Roman wrestling.
-- With three golds and seven medals overall, the United States pushed its total to 28 golds and 83 overall. Russia is second with 57.
