NEW HAVEN, Conn., Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Second-seeded Elena Dementieva reached the semifinals of the Pilot Pen Tennis tournament Thursday.
The French Open runnerup defeated Serbian Jelena Jankovic 6-1, 6-4 to set- up a semifinal showdown with fellow Russian Elena Bovina on Friday.

The current world No. 6 Dementieva lost to Anastasia Myskina in June's historic all-Russian Roland Garros final.
The seventh-seeded Bovina blew past American wild card Mashona Washington 6-3, 6-2, in Thursday's quarterfinals.
Another American wild card, Lisa Raymond, got past Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova 6-4, 6-3 at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale. The veteran Raymond awaits the Jennifer Capriati-Nathalie Dechy winner.
