ATHENS, Greece, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Wednesday's highlights at the Olympics:
-- Cuba won its third Olympic baseball gold medal with a 6-2 victory over Australia. A blown call by the umpires cost Australia two runs in the fourth inning and a chance for more.
-- American Rulon Gardner, one of the heroes of the Sydney Games, had to settle for a bronze in the 120-kilogram Greco-Roman wrestling weight class and then announced his retirement.
-- The U.S. women's basketball team cruised into the semifinals with a 102-72 win over Greece. Team USA will meet Russia in the semis.
-- An improbable rally put the American men's volleyball team in the semifinals. Down a set and trailing by eight points in the fourth, the United States rallied for a five-set win over Greece.
-- Israel won its first Olympic gold medal ever. It came from Gal Fridman in the men's mistral sailing class. Israel first appeared in the Games 52 years ago.
-- The United States did not win a gold medal Wednesday and had just four overall. But the Americans have piled up 76 medals. Russia moved past China in the overall race, 53 to 52.
