NEW HAVEN, Conn., Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Veteran Lisa Raymond upset fifth-seeded Russian Nadia Petrova 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in Wednesday's second round of the $585,000 Pilot Pen Tennis event.
The wild-card American's quarterfinal opponent in this final U.S. Open tuneup will be Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova.

In other second-round action at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale, eighth-seeded Nathalie Dechy of France held off Japanese Akiko Morigami 6-0, 3-6, 6-2; Hantuchova edged American Marissa Irvin 7-5, 4-6, 6-3; and Serbian Jelena Jankovic defeated Croat Jelena Kostanic 6-2, 7-5.
Dechy will meet defending New Haven champion Jennifer Capriati next.
