MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- The National Football League has upheld the two-game suspension handed Minnesota defensive end Kenny Mixon for substance avuse violation.
Mixon, who has started every game during his two seasons with Minnesota, appealed the suspension that came after a third arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol in a 16-month period.

He was twice convicted of DUIs and last spring spent 30 days in the Hennepin County workhouse on work release.
The 29-year-old Mixon recorded 62 tackles and five sacks in 2003. He will be eligible to return to the club on Sept. 21, the conclusion of Week 2.
