BALTIMORE, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- The Baltimore Ravens are expecting a final decision from Deion Sanders by Monday on a possible comeback, it was reported Tuesday.
The former All-Pro cornerback, who was not retained by CBS for its pre-game studio show, reportedly has been considering a return to the NFL with the Ravens, where he has close friends, the Baltimore Sun said.
The newspaper said officials want him ready by the Sept. 12 regular season opener at Cleveland.
"If he reports early next week, that would be our hope," Coach Brian Billick told the newspaper.
In his 12-year career, the versatile Sanders, 37, played for Atlanta, San Francisco, Dallas and Washington.
He had 48 pass interceptions for 1,187 yards, and scored 22 touchdowns on eight interception returns, six punt returns, three kickoff returns, one run and one fumble recovery.
Sanders was the fifth overall pick in the 1989 draft by the Falcons out of Florida State.
