ATHENS, Greece, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- American heavyweight Devin Vargas was eliminated from the Olympic boxing tournament in the quarterfinals Sunday night.

Vargas fell to Viktar Zuyev of Belarus.

The United States has just three boxers left in the competition -- middleweight Andre Dirrell, light-heavyweight Andre Ward and super-heavyweight Jason Estrada.

Vargas faced an 8-6 deficit after one round, stayed within two points after two rounds and was then overwhelmed to suffer a 36-27 setback.
