MASON, Ohio, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Lindsay Davenport swept into the semifinals of the Western and Southern Women's Open Friday with a straight-set victory over Flavia Pennetta.

Davenport bested the seventh-seeded Pennetta, 6-2, 6-2 and has now won 16 straight matches.

Davenport will face fourth-seeded Marion Bartoli in the semifinals. Bartoli bested unseeded Laura Granville 6-3, 6-1. Bartoli won easily despite being slowed by a blister on the right hand that caused her to withdraw from doubles action.

Saturday's other semifinal will pit second-seeded Vera Zvonareva against number-three seed Amy Frazier.

Frazier cruised past Selima Sfar, 6-3, 6-1, while Zvonareva got the better of qualifier Shuai Peng 6-2, 6-2, on Friday.
