CHICAGO, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Chicago White Sox Ozzie Guillen" class="tpstyle">Manager Ozzie Guillen was suspended for two more games Thursday after calling umpire Hunter Wendelstedt a liar.

He was speaking to a group of reporters before his team's game against Detroit.

On Wednesday, he had been hit with a two-game suspension after two confrontations with umpires in a contest against Cleveland Aug. 9.

Wendelstedt was the second-base umpire in that game, and television replays showed he erroneously called Carlos Lee out on a base-stealing attempt.

Guillen was cited for making inappropriate comments to Wendelstedt and fined $1,000.

"A man who believes in the truth as much as he does, then, yeah, his only recourse is to say what's on his mind in his defense," General Manager Ken Williams said.

"When I was walking back to the dugout, I put my hands down and he threw me out," a bewildered Guillen had claimed Tuesday.

The $1,000 fine doubled automatically with the second suspension.
