RENO, Nev., Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Roland Thatcher shot a six-under-par 66 Thursday to lead during the suspended opening round of the Reno-Tahoe Open.

Thatcher got off to a great start with four straight birdies. Mark Wiebe and Mark Wilson are one shot back at five-under-par 67.

Former U.S. Open champion Corey Pavin carded a four-under-par 68 to finish two shots back along with Hidemichi Tanaka, Steve Allan and Donnie Hammond.

Thunderstorms rolled through the area in the afternoon forcing multiple delays. Play was ultimately halted due to darkness and will resume Friday morning at 10:00 a.m.
